The launch of the 2018 Lough Ree Angling Festival took place on the banks of the River Shannon in Lanesboro last Saturday 10th February.
A provisional schedule of eight international competitions are so far planned for the lake over the coming year with the staging of the successful coarse fishing competition at the popular hot water stretch in Lanesboro, and at the Kilnacarrow Bridge.
“This competition will attract anglers from all over the U.K and Ireland to Longford and Roscommon this June bank holiday weekend,” said Philip Gordon, Secretary, Lough Ree Angling Hub.
The Lanesboro and Ballyleague harbours and marinas will also host the 2nd Annual Lough Ree International Pike Classic on June 23rd & 24th.
“We are delighted to be working again with the Camlin & District Angling club, Inland Fisheries Ireland, Roscommon and Longford County Council, the EU Leader companies, ESB, Bord na Mona, local landowners and the local community to help run these events,” added Mr. Gordon.
Entries for the two fishing festivals are now open – the International Coarse Fishing Festival takes place from Friday June 1st – Sunday June 3rd and entry forms are now available.
The Lough Ree International Pike Classic takes place on Saturday, June 23rd and Sunday, June 24th 2018 with entry forms now available.
